NEW YEAR, NEW DIET?
January 1st is almost here! Are you looking at the newest diet trends? Are you tempted to try various diets. Well I'm going to tell you which diet works.
Some diets you may have heard of are paleo, ketogenic, vegetarian, vegan, etc. I realized that as some one who has tried a vegetarian diet a few years ago it worked well for me during the year and a half I tried it. Another time when I tried a competition diet to get ready for a bodybuilding show that worked well for me trying to achieve a certain physique status. I have also tried carb cycling as a way of dieting to achieve certain physique goals I have. Every person's body is different and reacts differently to certain diets. My point is any diet you choose and plan to stick to will most likely work well for you since you are committed to that diet.
Now let's move onto the biggest question I get asked a lot, "which diets work the best for losing weight?"
I like to keep it real and say that the best diet that is going to help you lose weight is a well balanced HEALTHY diet. You can try various trending fad diets, but you have to think and say "is this diet going to help me in the long term for maintaining a healthy lifestyle?" Let's say you try a fad diet it helps you lose weight, but what happens when you have finished the diet program? You might fall back into old unhealthy habits, and did that fad diet teach you anything about your health?
Here is what I think instead of focusing on trying to find a diet that will help you lose weight fast, try focusing on your nutrition and eating more healthy meals. Becoming healthy and focusing on proper nutrition is a lifestyle change and it takes time to see results. Incorporate well balanced meals daily, make sure you are getting the appropriate amounts of macro-nutrients (protein, carbs, fats) and micro-nutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.) catered to your body type. I am a big fan of meal prepping which will help you stay on track for your goals. Remember to make sure you are taking care of your health and consulting with a physician before starting a diet program or exercise regimen. Safety first everyone!
