5-Point Checklist: Achieving Your 2018 Fitness Goals

New Year, new beginnings, new goals! Many people start off very strong during the new year within the first month of starting a workout program, and at some point people tend to either plateau or lose motivation. I have created a check list for you to use on how to stick with your fitness goals:

1. Start off with a workout program that you can gradually ease into to avoid burnout.

What I mean is begin a program that will help you build up strength and progress over time. A great way to figure out what type of workout regimen to start is by contacting me and I will be more than happy to help you!

2. When it comes to nutrition start off by simply eating healthier foods

Remember you are making a lifestyle change, so that means adapting and changing habits. I like to tell clients to begin by meal prepping. I know it takes work to cook all your food for the week, but it will help you stay on track.

3. Don't get caught up on numbers (ie: scale, pounds, calories, etc.)

Many people tend to become obsessive about losing so many pounds in a certain amount of time, or tracking every single calorie by every ounce. There is nothing wrong with counting calories and checking how much weight you lose, but remember that those numbers do not define you. I like to tell clients to take progress pictures because that will help you see how far you have come on your fitness journey.

4. Make sure you have a great support system

Surround yourself with people who are on the same path of success you want. Make sure your support system of friends, family, trainers, coaches, etc. are inspired, driven, and want to help you win at life.

5. Have a strong mindset

There will be days where you are unmotivated, things are difficult, you may not see progress, you may have hit a plateau, but this is where you have to remind yourself of WHY you started in the first place. Remember greatness takes time, so be patient!

I hope these tips help those of you who are getting back on track for 2018! Six months from now I hope you are still sticking to your goals! You have the power to change your life remember that.
