A Letter to 2018: Reflection
Dear 2018, you've been a real pain in my butt haha! Just kidding (sort of lol). In all seriousness this year has been one of the hardest years of my life, but I've realized this year has turned out to be the best year of self growth I've ever had. Truth is at the start of 2018 I had a vision, a plan, and I took action to make 2018 my year and I was just doing the normal life routine. Then, in March my life got flipped upside down when my health went straight to garbage. Being diagnosed with Lupus and Thrombocytopenia and all these other heath issues really took a toll on me physically and mentally. All of you know me as the girl who is all about the fitness life, and that became my identity, so it's wild to hear someone so healthy become sick forever, but hey it is what it is! I'm out here ending the year off strong and have gotten back to working out!
Despite all the adversities I've faced in the months after March I plowed through the year with trying to maintain a positive outlook and how I can grow from my situation. Here's a few things I have learned this year:
-2018 you taught me to be fearless.
-2018 you showed me all the potential I have.
-2018 you taught me resiliency.
-2018 you taught me how to turn pain into strength.
-2018 you showed me things I didn't want to ever see, but now I know why I needed to see it.
-2018 you taught me true gratitude.
-2018 you dragged me to my lowest point and I made it out alive.
Most importantly 2018 you taught me how to conquer and prepare for 2019.
The truth is every person is going through something in life that will challenge you. Life will test you and it'll make you question everything from yourself, to family, to friends, your career, and life in general. From everything I learned this year I've realized how important it is to keep love in your heart and to give love to others. I learned that it's important to acknowledge your emotions, learn from them, and allow yourself time to heal. The last few months of 2018 has really been a healing process for me and has led to a tremendous amount of self growth that no podcast or book has ever taught me. Experience, what a great teacher.
Thank you 2018 for showing me who I truly am and who I can be in the new year. 2019 the vision is the same, the plan is different, and the action will commence. 2019 I am ready for whatever life throws at me! As we open this new chapter of life, let's conquer 2019 everyone!
Love,
Ashleigh
