5 Tips on How to Follow Through on Your New Year Goals
Hello 2019!!! So you made a few New Year Resolutions?! A majority of society falls off on their goals after the month of February and I am here to help you not be one of those people! Whether your goal is to get healthy, take care of your mental health, make career moves, or establish better relationships, these tips will help you get organized and stay on the path towards accomplishing your goals in 2019! Let's begin by establishing your goal.
How to create your goal:
1. Set a goal or vision that you are going to actually commit to. Your goal can be simple like going for a walk each day or grand like starting a business. Whatever goal you create this year make sure it's something that you'll fully commit to and is meaningful.
2. Create a plan. For example, write your goal down, set a schedule, and if it's a big goal create small weekly goals to accomplish it. Research ways to help you achieve your goals and seek out help from others too!
3. Take action and do the hard work to accomplish your goals!
Okay so now that we have the three steps on creating a goal. How do we make sure we don't fall off our goals when we plateau or when things get difficult?!
5 Tips on How to Follow Through on Your Goals:
1.. DISCIPLINE. Develop yourself into being more disciplined this year. This will simply help you stay on track.
2. Build your mental toughness. You can do this by getting after it and doing the hard work necessary to achieve your goals. Keep going when things get hard because pain doesn't last and things will get better!
3. Read, listen, observe, and learn from others who have similar goals and who have failed before. Gain knowledge from them to help you achieve your goals.
4. Give yourself time to recharge and live life. What I mean is go do something fun or relaxing. Sometimes we grind so hard towards our goals and we get burnt out. Avoid burnout by doing something simple like spending time with family and friends, enjoy nature, paint or draw, etc. Do a fun activity you enjoy, clear your mind, and then focus back on your goal.
5. REMEMBER SMALL VICTORIES. This helped me a lot in 2018, so I am going to tell you what I mean by remembering small victories. For example, there are going to be times where you want to quit and give up because you are not achieving your results quickly after you put in the hard work. What you can do is remember the times in your life where you accomplished things you had once thought were difficult. Use your small victories to help you push forward while trying to accomplish your goals.
I hope those tips help you stay on the path towards accomplishing your goals this year. Remember life may throw you hard times, you may endure pain, you may not see results instantly, but you must dig deep, stay positive, prepare yourself to stay strong, and keep going!
